On wednesday afternoon, we had out SHARE group Shootout. It was organized by my amazing website company called Showit, which I’m sooo happy to be a part of! I love the community they have built, so full of encouragement & positivity. In so many photography groups & forums, people just TEAR YOU APART if you put in your two cents or share your work. I’ve seen it, it can be bad. That’s why being a Showiteer is so awesome! Instead of viewing other local photogs as competition, and never ever communicating with them & pretending they aren’t there…you support each other, help each other out!! So Jamilah, Frank & I got together in Boynton Beach and had a shootout where we did off-camera flash (OFC). It was great learning & shooting this, and Frank was so helpful in giving tips, and Jamilah with letting me try out her system…but it just also confirmed for me, that OFC for portraits is not really my style. There are some AWESOME photogs who do it amazingly (Zach & Jody Gray, on the workshop I listened to just last weekend!), and that completely works for them, and that is great!! But for me, my favorite shot of the night that I took is the one right below of Autumn, our model, which I quickly snapped…while they were setting up all the lighting equipment! ;)

I’m looking forward to hanging out with more of my SHARE showit peeps soon…as well as finally meeting in-person, after following their blogs & photography pages, dozens more showiteers at the huuuge wedding photography conference WPPI in Vegas, in just over two weeks. We are going to have such a BLAST! Sharing my room with 3-4 other Showiteer ladies that I seriously cannot WAIT to hang out with :):)
