Valentine’s Day. Thank you Pinterest!

Our Valentine’s Day was a roadtrip that my hubby planned, that I had no idea of the destination! We left thursday night, stayed that night in Jacksonville, but kept driving in the morning….and ended up in quaint, historic, romantic Charleston in South Carolina!! Ohh, it was so amazing there. Carriage rides, plantations tours, walking around downtown Charleston, the best steakhouse dinner date…pictures of this all to come soon  :)

A big part of my Valentine’s present was thanks to inspiration on pinterest. I’m not much of an interior decorator, but wanted to try my hand at it. Seeing beautifully decorated rooms like Katelyn James’s bathroom & office space (swooooon) has me trying not to be jealous of her talent for that…and wanting to hire her to do my house!  ;) I thought I’d try something decorative & crafty for Valentine’s Day. For those who follow me on Pinterest…you might have noticed that I’m kindaaaaa addicted to that site. Just my DIY board has like almost a thousand pins (seriously, so ridiculous). But the thing was…I never had time to actually TRY any of the crafts, being so busy with photography stuff! So I decided I would finally do some, in honor of Valentine’s Day. I planned my crafts and wrote down my list of supplies I’d need, and went off to Joann’s Fabrics…and came home with way more than I planned! There was just this adorable pillow, and hanging quilt…and they were 50% off…it’s almost like they paid me to take them when they fit so perfectly with my theme!  :)

Some things were handmade, some bought, like the pillow & hanging quilt…I wish I was that good at sewing! The LOVE banner I made, my own version of this pin. Seriously impressive when I didn’t even own needles & thread before this, and actually had to buy them. (Yes, David’s mom fixes all his fallen-off buttons…I really need to improve in this area of home-making wife!) The heart-yarn wreath I also made, thanks to seeing sooo many of these on pinterest! The heart banner I strung together with the same yarn easily enough. I’ll list where I got everything again at the bottom…

Here was my final set-up…it turned out even better than what I had pictured in my head!  :)

The mini-fireplace? Isn’t it sooo cute? I’d seen one on pinterest & went to the link, where it was like $500 for it..well at BB&B I found a version of it for waaay cheaper..plus it was then 50% off, how awesome!

Really pretty happy with how the LOVE banner & yarn-wreath turned out  :)

I’m such a sucker for these kind of things…Mr. & Mrs. mugs! Plus there’s a Bible verse inside them, and a heart on the bottom of the mug! SO CUTE!!

A little secret…one of the gift bags was just for decoration. I bought them both thinking I’d use them, but my other gifts (Love & Respect marriage book, a sweater) didn’t fit in there! The Brandon Heath CD fit in one, but the other ended up being just for decoration!  :)

Oh, and we won’t discuss my attempt at heart-shaped-jello for the red heart-shaped plates…and how they just became smoosh jello when I tried bringing it on our drive in a little plastic container without anything to keep it cold. No need to remember that part.

Happy Valentine’s Day!! Hope it’s LOVE-FILLED!
